Paul Defay, P.E., C.F.E.I., C.E.M. is the current Vice-President of the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.  Paul has served as the Vice-President for the Chamber since January 2015.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Additionally Paul holds certificates in electrical installations, energy management fire investigations, project Engineering and telecommunications systems.

Paul is a licensed Professional Engineer in 10 states with experience in electric utilities, electrical power systems, electrical testing & commissioning, forensic engineering and project management.  He has also testified in federal court as an expert witness.  Paul currently works as a Lead Engineer for General Electric where he provides technical resolutions for the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of gas and steam turbine generators for power plants and refineries.

Prior to General Electric, Paul held several different engineering roles:

As an Electrical Forensic Consultant for SEA Limited and the Rimkus Consulting Group, he conducted forensic investigations to determine the root causes of electrical incidents, equipment failures, electrical fires origins, injuries and fatalities.

As a Senior Electrical Testing Engineer for Hood-Patterson & Dewar, Inc., he supported the start-up, commissioning and field testing of power delivery systems in mission-critical data centers, high-rise structures and industrial facilities.

As a Power Utilization Engineer for the Tennessee Valley Authority, he rendered consulting services to nine electric cooperatives and municipalities served by the utility.

In addition to the above, Paul is currently a Captain in the United States Air Force where he serves as the Engineering Commander. In that capacity, he manages the emergency and scheduled engineering for the installation of telecommunication systems for military facilities in four states and overseas facilities.

Paul volunteers his time at local schools in STEM and professional development programs for General Electric and the National Society of Black Engineers.  Paul is also an avid fan of martial arts and range shooting.  He is the father of two sons 8 and 6 and a 2-year old daughter.
