International Trade Committee

Mission statement for the  International Trade Committee

To be the conduit for foreign investments from the Southeastern Region of the U.S. in Haiti, and to foster trade, cultural and humanitarian exchange to develop economic opportunity for Haiti.


  1. Act as a liaison between organizations and businesses and assist companies to reach out to lucrative markets in Haiti.
  2. Facilitate exchange between Haiti and the Southeast Region of the U.S., assisting with international trade.
  3. Support the efforts of the Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta, the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in Washington, DC, multilateral organizations, and bi-national chambers of commerce, to promote global commerce, economic, cultural and social exchange with Haiti.

Membership Development Committee

Purpose of the Membership Development Committee

The purpose of the Membership Development Committee is two-fold. First, it is to attract and retain members in the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce. Second, it is to ensure the availability of appropriate GAHCCI mentoring resources for all members including newer members as well as long-time members looking for ways to launch, operate, and grow their businesses, or otherwise in need of assistance.

CHARGE: The Membership Development Committee will coordinate internal and external activities to identify and recruit potential Chamber members. The recruitment effort may also include:

  1. Advising GAHCCI board members on all promotional activities and campaigns related to membership recruitment and retention.
  2. Serving as a liaison to the community explaining member benefits and dues while monitoring membership trends.
  3. Reviewing and evaluating GAHCCI member benefits.
  4. Developing membership brochures or other promotional materials.

The Membership Development Committee shall also be responsible for coordinating the mentoring and capacity-building efforts of GAHCCI. This coordination may include:

  1. Publicity for mentoring recruitment to ensure optimal matches between mentors and mentees.
  2. Tracking of formal mentoring relationships, when possible, to allow appropriate follow up.
  3. Gathering data from current and former participants to aid in critical evaluation of mentoring efforts.
  4. Development of networking opportunities for GAHCCI mentors and mentees.
  5. Service as a clearinghouse of mentoring-related literature and information.


  1. Communicate with networks to facilitate word of mouth.
  2. Research and apply technology based application options.
  3. Implement via newsletter, articles, and social media the functions of the chamber.
  4. Maintain the chamber’s visibility via newsletter, articles, and social media.
  5. Establish a method of identifying membership results after any chamber activity.

Public Relations & Events Committee

The role of the Public Relations Committee is to inform the public about the Chamber, its services, and the difference our services make for local businesses, their owners, and the community. Having strong public relations ensures that communities around the world know that the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce is a credible organization that meets real needs.

When the chamber has a positive public image, current members are motivated to be active and prospective members are eager to join. The responsibilities of the public relations committee are summarized below:

  1. Develop committee goals to achieve the chamber’s public relations goals for the coming year.
  2. Promote the chamber in your community.
  3. Work with members and board members to maximize public relations efforts.
  4. Understand the components of public relations that will help you promote the chamber to the community.
  5. Know the chamber’s key messages and be able to use them when speaking in public.
  6. Produce all chamber events.

Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for member growth and development. This committee works hand-in-hand with the Membership Development Committee to:

  1. Assess the growth and development needs of our members, business owners and entrepreneurs in the community.
  2. Create/adapt programs to address those needs.
    • Seminars, workshops, talks, articles & papers
    • The GAHCCI Certification Program
  3. Deliver a minimum of four (4) workshops during the year.
  4. Run a minimum of three (3) certification classes, and certify a minimum of ten (10) member businesses.

Finance Committee

The role of the finance committee is primarily to provide financial oversight for the organization. Typical task areas include budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.
