Manager – Business Census Initiative

Project Objectives:

The Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to assist in the implementation of its 2017 Business Census Initiative in the State of Georgia. The primary goals of this initiative are:

  1. Identify and locate Haitian-owned businesses in Georgia, USA.
  2. Obtain valid contact and listing info for each business (i.e., legal business name, description of products and services offered, logo, names of owners, business address, phone and valid email address, Facebook page URL, etc.).
  3. Create an entry for each business identified in the Chamber’s Business Directory using the information obtained in (2).
  4. Add the business to the Chamber’s email distribution list.

Why this Project is Important:

Through this initiative, you will serve as the catalyst for the following:

  • Consumers are connected to Haitian businesses and are buying Haitian.
  • Haitian businesses are doing business with each other (i.e., micro supply chain), and are collaborating and teaming up to serve new and larger B2B clients.
  • GAHCCI has published the results of a Haitian Business Census. We can accurately account for Haitian-Owned Businesses: Number, Location, Type, Industry, Number of Employees, Number of Years in Business, and Gross Annual Sales, etc.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate loves a challenge, is innovative and resourceful, thrives in an unstructured environment, and functions well in a project environment with little supervision. Assignments last anywhere from 3 months to a year. Volunteers work virtually, no field work is required. Volunteers must have access to a computer and the internet. Work hours are flexible, primarily daytime when businesses and goverment record agencies are open. It is expected that all volunteers work a minimum of 10 hours each week.

Job Duties:

  1. Use various means to search for, identify and locate Haitian-owned businesses. Such means include public records (i.e., articles of incorporation, business license records, Facebook pages, Google, etc. Volunteers will be given access to the current Chamber Business Directory as a starting place.
  2. Make contact via email and phone to conduct short interview and collect business info (i.e., legal business name, description of products and services offered, logo, names of owners, business address, phone and valid email address, Facebook page URL, etc.).
  3. Create an entry for each business identified in the Chamber’s Business Directory using the information obtained in (2).
  4. Add the business to the Chamber’s email distribution list.

  • Expert Computer User (i.e., Advanced MS Office Skills)
